SUMMER 2018

Know Your Fabric

SEASON OF FLORALS AND GLAMOUR
This summer is captured by soft pastels and vintage florals. Silky slinky dresses and romantic blouses with soft ruffles are the key trends creating a theme of sentiment. It’s all about femininity, expressed using sheers, tulles, tiered skirts, frayed edges and peekaboo tops. Colours are gentle such as whisper light pastels, dusty rose, lilacs and sage greens. Mesh and sheer fabrics are key for this feminine theme.
Palm beach glamour depicts the high life and youthful funk. It’s all about tropical florals such as palm leaves and hibiscus flowers. Styles include pyjama pants, off shoulder blouses, wrap dresses and jumpsuits with asymmetrical details. Bright bold and contrasting colours are new and used in a new combination to make a strong statement. Hot orange, oasis green, organic yellow and sapphire are just some of the colours. Crepe de chine, double georgette and bubble crepe are some of the more popular fabrics in palm beach glamour.
Stripe and Polka dot mania: Vertical, horizontal and diagonal stripe mania. You can’t go wrong with stripes this season. From sheer to poly and natural linen blends, a strong woven season, particularly for this trend. Barcode and salt water stripes, seersuckers for a casual crinkle effect. Polka dot has made a comeback with white spots on dark backgrounds. This print will definitely have a place in your wardrobe this season.
